The ‘Hand Book’ is created as a guidebook that explores the subject of taboo hand gestures around the world. Its content covers offensive gestures from across the globe, including those lesser known in modern society. Through my research, I have identified that each hand gesture carry various connotations, and realised the importance of understanding each of their implications individually. As the saying goes - “actions speak louder than words”; each action made by a specific hand gesture has a particular history tied to it. More often than not, they are culturally inclined.
This is a typographic and illustrative publication piece containing Letterpress printed spreads that were hand-bound together. The window on the cover has been laser cut with the ‘Hand Book' title manually printed on utilising a customised hot foil stamp.
