Santa vs Jesus | Illustration

  • Rebranding Xmas
    We were one of five New Zealand agencies asked to explore the meaning of Christmas for the Sunday Times Sunday magazine. Taking the theme of commerce versus religion, we staged a mock boxing match between the ‘Father of Christmas’ and the ‘Son of God’. The ensuing fight was advertised using a carefully crafted blend of line cut illustration and poster bill typography. We’re not sure whether Santa or Jesus came out ahead, but we decided the event was a success when the illustration was chosen as the front cover image for the magazine.
